Flegg Joins Ormiston Academies Trust
PRESS RELEASE 1 February 2018
Flegg High Ormiston Academy in Martham, Norfolk has today joined leading multi-academy trust, Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT).
The transfer has received widespread support from staff, students, parents and the local community in Martham. As part of its new chapter with OAT, the academy also welcomes a new name – Flegg High Ormiston Academy.
For many years, OAT has successfully raised academic standards amongst its 34 academies, and last year achieved excellent exam results at both GCSE and A Level across the network.
Flegg High Ormiston Academy will benefit from the full support of the Trust, including having access to its wide range of resources, services and expertise. Teachers and leaders at the Academy will also have the unique opportunity to share and exchange best practice with the other academies across the tight-knit family network.
Retaining its own unique identity, the Academy will continue to build on its positive community links, as well as work in collaboration with the Trust. Flegg High Ormiston Academy will maintain its funding from the government, but benefit from greater autonomy and Trust-wide collaboration supporting them on many things including procuring services and funding for future projects. There are no plans to change the duration or schedule of the school day, nor the school uniform.
OAT’s academies are clustered into hubs within the North, West, East and South regions. Flegg will join the East regional hub, which has ten academies, including the Outstanding rated Ormiston Venture Academy and Ormiston Victory Academy - recognised for their excellent education provision. All East and wider academies will work closely with Flegg High Ormiston Academy in the coming months, supporting them as they begin their journey as an OAT academy.
The Trust champions the academic achievement and all-round development of the 26,000 young people it serves and is determined to be the Trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside the classroom and beyond.
The Trust’s vision for the Academy is for its students to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to fulfil their potential.
