Flegg High School aims to help in providing a caring and safe community environment for all pupils, staff and parents. It is committed to helping all members of the school community to benefit from information and communication technology, whilst understanding its risks, and to equip children with the knowledge and skills to be able to use it safely and responsibly.
To help in this aim, the school provides learning opportunities about cyber bullying in a series of lessons and assemblies.
Cyber bullying includes sending harmful or upsetting texts, images or other messages. It can include threats and intimidation, harassment, defamation, impersonation and unauthorised publication of private information or images. It can include messages intended as jokes, but which have a harmful or upsetting effect.
Protecting people from cyber bullying is a challenge for all members of the school community. Pupils and parents are asked to sign an agreement to use information technology, including mobile devices, appropriately.
Breaking of this agreement may result in the privilege of using technology at school. Serious incidents of cyber bullying may result in further sanctions, including police involvement if required.
